Desert Heart

Do you have no feelings left? Have people said things that hurt so deeply that you refuse to let yourself feel anything, good or bad, any more? Do you not know who you are or why you were created? Is your heart a desert so dry that even the cacti are dying? Let me tell you a story.

Once there were a million people walking through a desert. It was hot and very dry. They got thirstier and thirstier until finally they grew angry at their leader. "You brought us out here just to let us die", they said. "We would've been better off if we would have stayed where we were." The leader prayed to God and God told him to take his walking stick and go to a certain rock and hit it with his stick. The leader did what God told him and, lo and behold, water came gushing out. Enough water to satisfy a million people plus all their animals.

That same God is alive and well today and he's still in the business of watering thirsty people in the middle of the desert. If your heart is all dried up and you haven't had water for many months; open your heart to the One who loves to make streams in the desert and who makes the desert blossom like a rose. He can do it in your heart if you can simply believe him. Choose to believe. Decide inside that you will believe, and pray for him to help your unbelief. God loves to do miracles for his people.

I pray that your dry heart will be watered today, that it will blossom like a rose and become a well where waters flow from to bless many people. May this be the day when you begin to freely drink the water that God provides.
