Cup of Wrath, Cup of Mercy

Our God is merciful and slow to anger but he is righteous. He will not allow the nations or the individual people of the earth to continue in wickedness forever. When their cup of iniquity is full God pours out His cup of wrath onto that nation or person and then woe to that nation or person.
Our cup of iniquity can be poured into the blood of Jesus through the act of repentance and when we repent the cup of God's wrath is poured out into the cup of His mercy.
Let us be a people of repentance so we never need to fear the wrath of God being poured out on us. Instead we can live secure in the mercy of God knowing our iniquity is canceled by the blood of Jesus.
In Genesis 15 God told Abram that the iniquity of the Amorites was not yet complete. At that time they still had opportunity to repent, but by the time Israel arrived in Canaan four generations later they still had not repented. Their cup of iniquity was full and God poured out his cup of wrath on them.
Joshua 10 and 11 detail the wrath of God being poured out on the Amorites. Israel attacked them and they fled but as they ran God sent large hail stones on them and more died from the hail stones than were killed by Israel. Then Joshua commanded the sun and the moon to stand still until the Amorites were destroyed and they stood still. God worked supernaturally to destroy a people who's cup of iniquity was full. They had no chance against the wrath of God. They were utterly destroyed from the face of the earth and are only remembered as an example of what not to do.
Woe to the nation or the person who's cup of iniquity is full. Let us live in repentance and enjoy the relationship with our Heavenly Father that is only possibly by his mercy through the blood of Jesus.
